Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev signed a decree about indexation of a payment for utilities in 2019 in two phases in connection with the planned VAT increase, reported the press service of the government.

From 1 January the VAT rate increases from 18% to 20%. In this regard, the indexing of fees for utility services with the same number will be 1.7% including the VAT increase with effect from 1 July advanced 2.4%. In fact, it means the summation indices.

Until now, utility tariffs were indexed once — only from 1 July and, as a rule, an average of four percent. In 2019 the rate will be 4.1%.

The changes are intended to indexing fees, despite the increase in VAT rates does not exceed normal level.
