Members of the upper house of the Czech Parliament, the Senate, adopted at its meeting on Thursday a resolution which called on the Prime Minister and billionaires Andrew Babish to resign before the end of the ongoing police investigation about the possible abuse in obtaining one of his companies the subsidies of the European Union in the amount of about 2 million euros.

«The Senate of the Parliament of the Czech Republic believes the participation of Andrew Babish in the government pending investigation of allegations of fraud in obtaining EU grants to the firm «stork’s Nest» for unacceptable», — stated in the decree of the Senate, published its press-service.

The Senate made this decision after the Prime Minister, citing his busy schedule, did not come to the meeting Thursday, which was invited and was not informed when I could do it.

«The information which recently appeared in the media in connection with the business of the company «stork’s Nest», raise suspicion that the investigation is not independent. The Senate could not pass this situation,» he told reporters after a meeting of the upper house, the head of the senatorial club of the Civil democratic party which has a majority in the house, Milos Vystrcil.

Earlier on Tuesday, leaders of six opposition parties in the Czech Republic in a joint statement demanded the resignation of the government, they intend to raise this issue at the meeting of the lower house of Parliament in early next week. The reason for this opposition has described the alleged attempt of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrew Babish «hide» his son in the Crimea from the interrogation in the case against his father.

In January 2018, Prime Minister of the Czech Republic and leader of the ruling movement ANO and billionaires Andrew Babish was stripped of parliamentary immunity in connection with the investigation conducted by the police against him as the head of the largest Eastern European corporations Agrofert. We are talking about suspicion of illegally obtaining EU grants of about € 2 million for the firm «stork’s Nest», which was part of the Corporation, but then had to isolate from her. The company received euroconseil as a small firm, and then was once again included in Agrofert.

While Babish, speaking in Parliament, said that the firm «stork’s Nest» at the time of receiving EU grants belonged to his two adult children, son and daughter from his first marriage. Now, the Prime Minister said that the son and daughter are mentally ill and accused «molested their testimony» media «gianizm» (from the name of the animal – the hyena).
