The Moscow city court upheld the verdict in the international wanted list the former Deputy of the state Duma Ashot Yeghiazaryan in absentia convicted to seven years in a General regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles for fraud, the correspondent of RIA Novosti news from the courtroom.

According to the Russian investigative bodies, the Deputy of the state Duma of three convocations, along with three accomplices fraudulently took control of 20% of the shares of ZAO «tsenturion the Alliance» totaling about 1.57 billion rubles.

All the defenders in absentia of the convicts asked for the verdict of the Zamoskvoretsky court of Moscow to reverse and render an acquittal.

«The court verdict clearly States that Yeghiazaryan accused of devalued shares in the company, but it imputes article 159 (fraud)… it is Obvious that the act is wrong professionally, because there is no such sign of the objective side of theft, confiscation and appeal in their favor. Action «tsenturion the Alliance» does not belong to Yeghiazaryan, or controlled by him to the persons they belonged to the victim, and remained in his possession,» said attorney Artur Airapetov.

He also noted that these actions of his client may be qualified only by article 165 of the criminal code (infliction of property damage by deception or abuse of trust). But at the same time, the lawyer Eghiazarian Airapetov believes the sentence is illegal, imposed in violation of the right to defense and so on.

Yeghiazaryan found guilty of fraud in especially large size, the court sentenced him in absentia sentenced to seven years of imprisonment with punishment serving in a General regime colony and a fine of 700 thousand rubles. His brother Artyom Yeghiazaryan a court has appointed five years of imprisonment and a fine of 600 thousand rubles. Other defendants in Maxim Cleocin and Vitaly Gogokhiya was sentenced to four years imprisonment and fined 400 thousand rubles.

Since November 2010 Yeghiazaryan is Federal, and since the end of December — in the international wanted list due to opened in Russia a criminal case of major fraud. The U.S. justice Department in 2013 denied the Prosecutor General’s office in the extradition of the former Deputy.

The state Duma in March 2011 agreed to the withdrawal of Deputy immunity and for his arrest. Yeghiazaryan himself claims to be a victim of «raider attacks», the initiators of which was allegedly made by businessmen Suleyman Kerimov and Arkady Rotenberg as well as former Moscow mayor Yuri Luzhkov. In his opinion, the cause of the conflict was his participation in the project of reconstruction of hotel «Moscow».

Later investigation opened concerning ex-the Deputy of the state Duma a new criminal case on fraud by almost 6 billion rubles. According to investigators, the defendants fraudulently forced Mikhail Ananiev, Manager of controlling block of shares of JSC «invest-the Centre» to arrange 80 thousand shares at these Yeghiazaryan persons, including his wife Natalia Nagolovu and informal chief of security Yegiazaryan Vladimir Zaitsev. Instead of shares of JSC «invest-the Centre» Yeghiazaryan promised to make Ananiev equivalent asset, namely 50% of shares of JSC «Stone bridge» and OJSC «Kremlin website», as well as the building of the business center «Daev Plaza». Later criminal cases were United into one.
