The Ibero-American summit held in Guatemala, denounced the longstanding economic embargo against Cuba, reports the Cuban foreign Ministry.

«At the Ibero-American summit of heads of state and government today approved a statement on the need to end the economic, commercial and financial blockade of Cuba by the USA», — stated in a communiqué of the Ministry.

The summit brought together leaders from Spanish — and Portuguese-speaking countries of Latin America and Europe.

The UN General Assembly on 1 November this year for the 27th time adopted a resolution on the necessity of ending the embargo against Cuba in effect for 55 years. The resolution, which usually came from Cuba, voted by 189 countries. It was opposed by two countries — the United States and Israel, which in this issue has traditionally supported the American position.
