Russia and Papua New Guinea signed a number of documents in the cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, and the Chairman of the Russian Foundation named after Miklukho-Maklai, his descendant and namesake of Nikolai miklouho-Maclay, gave a winter landscape to the locals before you travel to Russia know what is preparing.

In particular, signed a Memorandum of cooperation between the University of Papua New Guinea and the Foundation named after Miklukho-Maclay on the donation of rights to use the documentary «Citizen of the world» and «Man from the moon» for educational purposes, as well as a Memorandum on cooperation and support in conducting a scientific research expedition in the region of Madang. The signing ceremony was held on the sidelines of the APEC summit.

In addition, the Russian national library and archives of Papua New Guinea signed a document on cooperation in various fields with the participation of the Fund Maclay.

The ceremony was attended by Russian Ambassador to Indonesia and part Papua New Guinea Lyudmila Vorobeva, the Deputy Minister of science and higher education of Russia Alexey Medvedev and Maclay.

The national library also gave Papua New Guinea a dozen books on Russia. «Last year I found only two books in your library. But it is our mistake that we did not bring. Now your library started to grow,» said Maclay.

He also conveyed a picture of a typical Russian winter landscape. Maclay said that a few residents of Papua New Guinea recently visited Russia and caught the first snowflakes.

«It was the most memorable moment in their lives. Now those who will gather to us, will see it in the picture and will be ready for our snow,» he said.

The Fund Manager, adding that Russia is one of the few countries in the world where tens of thousands of people know about Papua New Guinea, as many read books about the journey here of the famous Russian Explorer Nikolai miklouho-Maclay.

Maclay was inclined to the view that racial and cultural characteristics of Nations formed under the influence of the natural and social environment and to justify this theory, floated to the Islands of the Pacific ocean — to explore the «Papuan race».
