Turkey is building relations with Russia, regardless of the pressure of other countries, which will not benefit anyone, said the Turkish leader Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at a ceremony marking the completion of the marine pipeline installation, which took place in Istanbul on Monday.

The ceremony was also attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin.

«Turkey has never come to a relationship with Russia, based on the requirements of other countries. A situation that violated the sovereign rights of States, will not benefit anyone. For us Russia is a long-term reliable friend and an important supplier of gas. Warm and close relationship between our countries based on mutual aid have been of the greatest weight for the future,» Erdogan said.

The project «Turkish stream» involves construction of a pipeline, consisting of two lines with capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters each. The first line is designed to supply gas to Turkish consumers, the other for the gas supply countries in southern and South-Eastern Europe.

To start gas supplies via the «Turkish stream» is planned until 1 January 2020.
