The position and requirements of the European Union on the situation in the Azov sea is actually interference in the internal Affairs of Russia, said the Deputy of the state Duma of the Russian Federation of the Crimea region Michael Sheremet.

The head of European diplomacy Federica Mogherini said on Monday that the EU may consider specific measures in the near future in connection with the situation in the Azov sea. In particular, Russia needs to stop inspections of vessels. In addition, the foreign Ministers of the EU countries expressed concern about the situation in the Azov sea, which causes damage not only to the economy of Ukraine, but also vessels under European flags.

Earlier in late October, the European Parliament approved a resolution calling on the EU authorities to envisage the possibility of strengthening sanctions against Russia in case of aggravation of the situation in the Azov sea.

«Such statements representatives of the European Union is outrageous. The sea of Azov is internal waters of the two countries, and the Kerch Strait is under the full sovereignty of Russia, so the intervention of third parties is unacceptable. It is actually interference in the internal Affairs of another state», — told RIA Novosti Sheremet.

According to him, the rules of navigation in the Azov sea can be regulated only within the framework of the Russian-Ukrainian agreements.

«The inspection of vessels for security purposes, not only Russia, but also Ukraine and other ships calling at the sea of Azov under the flags of other countries. Inspection reports, Russian border guards have never violated, it is even recognized by representatives of Ukraine, that no claim in this part was not» — said Sheremet.

The situation of navigation in the Azov sea has escalated in the beginning of the year. Ukrainian border guards detained on March 25 the ship «Nord» under the flag of Russia in the Azov sea with 10 crew members. Crew members without a captain at full strength was able to return to Crimea only after seven months from the exchange of the Ukrainian sailors arrested for poaching and trespassing of the Russian Federation.

The captain of the ship «Nord» remains in Ukraine. He is accused of committing criminal offences under articles «Illegal fish, animal or other water extracting trade» and «violation of the procedure of entry in the temporarily occupied territory of Ukraine and departure from it with the purpose of causing harm to the interests of the state.» Management of FSB of the Crimea opened a criminal case under article 211 of the criminal code «hijacking an aircraft, sea vessel or railway rolling stock».

In August in Kherson port detained a Russian tanker «Mekhanik Pogodin», attempts to pass from the waters failed.

Russian authorities found the actions of the Kiev «sea terrorism» and responded by increasing border inspections in his part of the Azov sea. Then the Ukrainian border guards said that the Russians «have begun a strict policy of detention and inspection of ships». While the Crimean border guard of FSB of Russia stated that it conducts audits in accordance with international law of the sea and had not received complaints from shipowners, and the Ukrainian foreign Ministry admitted that Russian border guards do not violate the protocols during the inspection.
