NATO should continue to play a big role on the «southern flank», providing stability in the region, said the king of Spain Felipe VI.

«The Alliance should continue to play an important role in the South, a region which is of particular interest to us and which, perhaps, are concentrated some of the security issues that most concern us. He should do it through political dialogue and practical cooperation with our Mediterranean partners, as well as through mission deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, in which Spain is an active participant,» said the head of Spain, speaking at the headquarters of NATO in Brussels. In his speech, Felipe VI among the major security challenges called terrorism and hybrid threats, cyber attacks and «disinformation campaign using the new technology» that «difficult to keep» and which «represent a huge potential destabilization.»
