The conflict between the Ecumenical Patriarchate and the Russian Orthodox Church has not affected the pilgrimage tourism in Greece, including mount Athos — a little more than a month after the decision of the Russian Orthodox Church on the Eucharistic communion of churches there are no problems, said the Vice-President of Ambotis Holidays George Lipej.

Because of the decision of Constantinople to begin providing non-canonical autocephaly churches in Ukraine, which the Russian Orthodox Church is called the schism, the Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church declared the break of communion with the Patriarchate of Constantinople on the canonical territory of the ROC, including Ukraine and Belarus. As explained in the Department for external Church relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, the faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church will no longer be able to partake in the monasteries of mount Athos, where commemorated the name of Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople, in connection with impossibility of continuation of the Eucharistic communion with him after his actions in Ukraine.

«We didn’t break anything. Going group who planned the trip. Two groups the program changed, and instead of Greece, we took them to Cyprus,» — said the Lipej RIA Novosti.

According to him, there is no problem of refusals of visas to pilgrims from the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Greece and Consulate. «There is no failure. Everything is going fine,» he said.

«There was one refusal of a tourist, but he is guilty, violated the regime of Schengen. There was also the refusal of one young girl, but it happens,» he added Lipej.

He said that the situation has not changed compared to the previous year, although there are changes in the composition of the groups.

«For example, we had planned for a group of 30 people, and come 24, or instead of 20 pilgrims came 22. This is the usual variations, all within the normal range. We see no changes in connection with this incident,» said the Lipej, refutes earlier information in the Greek media that limit the group and the visits of pilgrims.
