Russia expects the visit of DPRK leader Kim Jong-UN, the timing of the visit are being coordinated, said the head of the international Committee of the Federation Council of Russia Konstantin Kosachev.

«We expect the North Korean leader to visit … now go confirm the time and format (his visit — ed.)», — Kosachev said on Thursday at a meeting with the special representative of Sweden on the settlement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula Kent Harstedt.

Kosachev noted that Russia has consistently advocated a peaceful settlement of the situation on the Korean Peninsula by political means. According to him, in addition to the global values of the peace dialogue between North and South on the Korean Peninsula, the issue has a purely practical value, «since North Korea is the immediate geographic neighbor of Russia.»

«The situation on the Korean Peninsula is already in a frozen state, as we could observe in the last years», — said the head of the Federation Council Committee with satisfaction.However, he urged not to surrender to euphoria about progress in solving the Korean problem. Kosachev thinks it is very important to restore dialogue between Pyongyang and Seoul, «North Korean leadership is in direct contact with third countries of the «six» negotiators,» he said. Kosachev also said that in the framework of the autumn session of the visit of Federation Council speaker Valentina Matviyenko in North Korea. In September Matvienko visited the DPRK in early October — South Korea.

According to Kosachev, Moscow has also actively promoted the contacts between delegations of the two Koreas, when Russia is the mistress of international events.

Earlier, Matviyenko said that gave North Korean leader Kim Jong Ynu message from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin. According to her, in response, the DPRK leader said confirms the willingness to come on an official visit to Russia.

Putin said that Kim Jong-UN may visit Russia at any convenient time.
