The decision to withdraw from the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) confirms the weakness of the US position, said RIA Novosti Director of the Department for nonproliferation and arms control Ministry of foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Vladimir Ermakov.

«You can Express different opinions. But it is confirmation of the weakness of the position of the state. When instead of having to sit down at the negotiating table with your partner, some kind of bullshit are trying to introduce into the media sphere. This confirms once again the weakness of the position of the state,» he said.

According to Ermakova, when the government feels that its position is strong, it goes on full-fledged negotiations.

«We come to these talks ready. We welcome any form of intergovernmental discussions at the negotiating table and we are going to advance», — he said.

Earlier, the President of the United States Donald trump announced that Washington would withdraw from the Treaty on intermediate-range and shorter-range. According to him, America will increase its nuclear capability as long as the others «comes to her senses», then Washington will be ready to stop this process and proceed to arms reduction. He explained that this message is addressed primarily to China and Russia. Press Secretary of the President Dmitry Peskov said that Moscow wants to get more detailed explanations from the United States, and added that the scrapping of the provisions of the INF Treaty would force Russia to take measures to ensure security. The Russian foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that any action in this field will meet.
