The majority of Russians, according to statistics belong to the Orthodox Church, but the clergy must do all that it was about real communion with the faith, said Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill after the Liturgy in the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Kaliningrad.

«We are at the beginning of the spiritual revival of our people. Statistically the majority of Russians say they belong to the Orthodox faith, but statistical affiliation and the real Church is a different reality. We should work hard to implement the churching of our people, to the people heart and mind had felt the power of prayer,» the Patriarch said.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church noted that a few decades ago, residents of the Kaliningrad region did not have the opportunity to join the Orthodox faith. «Here for 40 years there was no place for prayer, the people did not know how to cross and how to come under the blessing of the priest. Today ends the whole epoch — the epoch of formation of the Orthodox Church in the Kaliningrad land,» — said the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia.

He recalled that «the main decoration of the temple are not the walls and not painted, the main decoration of the temple are the people who gather for prayer,» and wished that every Church on the territory of the countries were filled with parishioners.

Patriarch Kirill arrived in Kaliningrad diocese on November 23. He brought the ark with the relics of the Holy Hierarch Luke (Voyno-Yasenetsky) and consecrated the monument to Saint Prince Alexander Nevsky in the city of Baltiysk. On Sunday, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church will perform the rite of consecration of the Church of the Holy Martyr Lydia in Kaliningrad.
