President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said that the work on removal of trade barriers on the domestic market of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU) is slow, and urged to give impetus to the refractive index of the situation.

«Ends the fourth year of the Treaty on the Union of the ten allocated for the removal of all obstacles impeding the movement of goods, services, capital and labour, formation of General industrial markets. Not all of us did what we planned,» — said Lukashenko in Minsk, meeting with heads of governments of the EEU countries. In the capital of Belarus on Tuesday will be a meeting of the Eurasian intergovernmental Council.

The President noted that the main problems are known, and urged the Prime Minister again to discuss them and to make sound decisions required for the formation of a full economic Union. «The time we are left with in order to relax, you need to move forward… I mean what is happening in the international trading markets… We are no longer just on the eve of some of the trade wars, we already are there. Therefore, our economic Union becomes for us a special significance,» stressed the Belarusian leader.

In this regard, he urged to give impetus to efforts to reduce obstacles in the internal market. «This is unacceptable, I believe, if we are in this respect will not take a step. And we know what to do, what direction to move… But slowly solve these problems. These barriers must be removed,» — said the President.

Moreover, according to him, there were cases when some barriers were eliminated, and in their place were erected by others. «For example, ends defined by the Treaty of Alliance the two-year period of exemptions from the national regime in public procurement, originally invented as an exceptional measure. The same exemption can be laid again over the next two years. The question is: what we aspire to a common economic space or by the use of legal loopholes for national protectionism?» — said the Belarusian leader.

According to him, it should be clearly understood that «the Union will provide value to our economies and external partners, only if he becomes predictable organization that plays on certain us rules.»

The EEU is an international integration economic Union created on the basis of the Customs Union and the common economic space starting from 1 January 2015. Its current membership are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
