«Will exchange views on international issues, primarily the situation in the middle East. Speech, in particular, will focus on the Syrian settlement,» — said Ushakov.

Armed conflict in Syria lasts since 2011. At the end of 2017, it was announced victory over the banned in Russia by the terrorist group ISIS* in Syria and Iraq. In some areas of ATS continue to sweep from the militants. At the moment the most important is a political settlement, restoration of Syria, and the return of refugees.

«Russia and Saudi Arabia are in favor of political and diplomatic settlement of the crisis in Syria, the need to preserve its unity and territorial integrity. It is expected to discuss efforts to promote the political process, including the formation and launching of the constitutional Committee in Geneva», — said the presidential aide.

Russia, along with key partners in the format of Astana — Turkey and Iran — and the UN special envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura is working on the formation of inter-Syrian constitutional Committee to prepare a constitutional reform in Syria. In September, representatives of the three countries agreed on the lists of Commission members from the Syrian government and the opposition. However, the third list of independent members, proposed by de Mistura, did not suit many, and the discussion continued. Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow sees no reason to advance the work of the Commission, but a number of Western countries insist that it was launched before the end of the year.

Another important issue in the middle East — the situation in Yemen, where in 2014, continuing a military-political conflict between the government and Houthi rebels from the Shiite movement «Ansar Allah». In an interview with RIA Novosti head of operations, International Committee of the red cross in Aden Carlos Batallas said that the ICRC estimates that currently, of the 27 million living in this country, people in need of humanitarian assistance around 22 million. In his view, without a political solution to meet the humanitarian needs of Yemen impossible. While attempts of the UN to peacefully resolve the conflict have not led to success. Currently, the fighting intensified in the area of the province of Hodeidah, where one of the main ports through which the country get the humanitarian aid and commercial goods.

«It can also be affected by the situation in Yemen, where the Saudi-led coalition continues fighting against the Houthis in the movement «Ansar Allah». For its part, Russia called for an early end to the bloodshed and the resumption of the inter-Yemeni dialogue under the auspices of the UN,» — said Ushakov.

Earlier, the UN special envoy on Yemen Martin Griffiths reported that the parties to the conflict shall shortly meet in Sweden for negotiations. Yemeni authorities agreed to participate in the consultation, but urged the UN envoy to put pressure on the Houthi rebels continued to make those profits without preconditions. In September consultations in Geneva failed because they were unable to attend the Houthis.
