The Federal police of Brazil detained the Governor of the state of Rio de Janeiro Luiz Fernando Pezao and several members of his entourage on charges of taking bribes during the period when Pezao held the post of Vice-Governor, reports Europa Press.

Petau, was arrested at his official residence in accordance with the decision of the Supreme court, who also issued warrants for the arrest of several senior officials. The detention took place as part of a major anti-corruption operation «car Wash,» related to the investigation of money laundering, corruption and bribery at Petrobras.

The Brazilian company Petrobras was at the center of a corruption scandal in 2014, when it became known that several functionaries had signed contracts and was paid a Commission of 3% of the contract amount. In the future these funds were used to bribe politicians and officials. According to the authorities of Brazil, high prices and bribes brought the authors ideas about 3.8 billion dollars.
