More than 85 thousand new cases of HIV infection were detected in 10 months of 2018, which is 2% lower than the same period in 2017, it said in the reference materials of the Federal scientific-methodological center for the fight and prevention of HIV infection TSNII of epidemiology of Rospotrebnadzor.

Earlier the head of Rospotrebnadzor Anna Popova told RIA Novosti that the Russian Federation managed to halt the spread of HIV infection: results of 10 months the number of new cases less than in the same period last year, this happened on the background of a significant increase in the number of surveyed citizens.

«For the first 10 months of 2018, the territorial centers of prevention and control of AIDS was reported, according to preliminary data, about 85 450 new cases of HIV infection, excluding identified anonymously and foreign nationals, which is 2% lower than the same period in 2017,» the document reads.

The incidence rate in the first 10 months of 2018 amounted to 58.2 per 100 thousand population.
