The head of the Pension Fund of Russia Anton Drozdov asked the regional office of the Union of pensioners of Russia to be actively involved in the work to explain to pensioners innovations in pension legislation.

Speaking at the Plenum of the Central Committee of the Union of pensioners, which has offices in all constituent entities of the Russian Federation, Drozdov asked the members of the organization to help with outreach efforts regarding changes in the pension legislation, which will come into force in 2019.

«From January 1, these people will start to ask questions, where they all will come? To the Pension Fund, customer services and again to create our line. I ought to warn that history, we have prepared all the modules that have prepared advocacy materials, bring them to the office (the regional branch of the RPF), take them in the office view. We need to expand this work,» — said Drozdov.

Russian President Vladimir Putin on 3 October signed a law on improving the pension system of Russia, which provides for the 2019 gradually increase the age of retirement by five years — to 65 for men and 60 for women. Originally, the government bill for the gradual raising of age of retirement to 65 years for men and 63 years for women, however, in the second reading in the state Duma took into account proposals of the President of the Russian Federation, and now the document provides increase for all five years.

Lawmakers on the initiative of the head of state has provided a number of other measures for mitigating solutions, in particular early retirement for mothers of large families and the introduction of measures for the protection of persons close to retirement age, including raising unemployment benefits and the introduction of liability for employers for dismissal before retirement.

Earlier, first Vice Prime Minister — Minister of Finance Anton Siluanov said that the Russian government is planning the indexation of pensions in 2019 by 7%, that is, they will grow in real terms even with inflation above forecasts. He also assured that the budget will provide funding for indexing pensions faster than inflation, this will increase the amount of the transfer to the Pension Fund.

All-Russian public organization «Union of pensioners of Russia» — Russia’s largest Association of retirees, it includes more than 1.5 million people.
