President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko believes that the various sanctions and escalating trade wars represent a «unique opportunity» for the economies of the Eurasian economic Union (EEU).

«We do weird, terrible situation in the world in terms of trade. Talking about trade wars… But for us there would be no happiness, Yes the misfortune has helped. A unique chance! Russia under pressure from all sides. I see you there slugger. About these sanctions is already chatter is everywhere. Listen, calm down. We are a small country under sanctions was ten years old. Spun like snakes in a skillet. Survived. But if we are United, we are together, it’s a chance for our economies,» — said Lukashenko in interview to TV channel «Russia 24». The Belarusian President believes that the EEU countries need to «make a breakthrough» and show the «who dreams of sanctions and impose them on Russia and consider us.»

According to him, «it is impossible such a huge territory with a population of under 200 million, and this pair of economies, enterprises somewhere «lower» because of the sanctions. «Moreover, tomorrow is the biggest economy in the world — China. We had a remarkable relationship. But only for any who do not need to lie down. We are a proud Soviet people in that period, we’ve endured this. There was the iron curtain, and we lived,» — said Lukashenko.

The head of state assured that in the current situation of post-Soviet countries are trying to «take away» the foreign players, Byelorussia «already almost in the NATO is ready to take.» He believes that at the moment there is a struggle for Russia, «so we need brains to gather together, to set a goal and go for it. And we can do it», — Lukashenka added.

The EEU is an international integration economic Union created on the basis of the Customs Union and the common economic space starting from 1 January 2015. Its current membership are Russia, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
