The Communist party monitor the health of the Nobel laureate academician Zhores Alferov, said party leader Gennady Zyuganov.

Earlier the representative of the press service of the Russian Academy of Sciences told RIA Novosti that the health of 88-year-old Alferov, hospitalized in Moscow with hypertensive crisis, has improved.

«The experts… Closely watching, helping, assistants on duty, our (first Vice-speaker of the state Duma Ivan) Melnikov closely. I think it will cost, God forbid,» said Zyuganov RIA Novosti.

Zhores Alferov — Nobel prize winner in physics 2000 was born on 15 March 1930 in Vitebsk (Belarus). He graduated from the faculty of electronic engineering of the Leningrad electrotechnical Institute, since 1953, his work at the Physico-technical Institute named after Ioffe.

Scientist participated in the development of the first domestic power transistors and germanium devices. Since the early 1990-ies engaged in the study of the properties of nanostructures of reduced dimensionality: quantum wires and quantum dots.

In 2000, Alferov was awarded the Nobel prize in physics «for achievement in electronics» jointly with the Americans Jack Kilby and Herbert kroemer. Kremer, like Alferov, received an award for developing semiconductor heterostructures and the creation of fast opto — and microelectronic components (Alferov and Kremer received half of the monetary award), and Kilby for the development of the ideology and technology of microchips (the other half).
