To ban Russian women from entry to Ukraine — means to begin to build a new iron curtain and to restrict the rights of its citizens and adversely affect the country’s economy, said a member of the Council under RF President on development of civil society and human rights (HRC), the Director of the Moscow Bureau for human rights Alexander Brod.

The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on Friday said that Ukraine imposed restrictions on the entry of citizens of Russia males aged 16 to 60 years. Following this, the first Deputy head of the faction «popular front» in the Verkhovna Rada Andriy Teteruk called for a ban on entry to Ukraine also Russian women.

«To enter additional restrictions for Russian women is actually start to build an iron curtain. And people go to Ukraine someone might, for some business matters, someone goes to rest, someone is going to relatives, and limiting such contacts, Ukraine, in fact, restricts the rights of its citizens, because people will be deprived of the ability to communicate, maintain family ties, reduce social and business activities. This is damaging to Ukraine itself, the Ukrainian budget, the tax base. It is absolutely unclear, especially at a time when Ukraine is experiencing not the best times», — told RIA Novosti the Ford.

According to a member of the HRC, such actions of the Ukrainian authorities have nothing to do with the law, nor with common sense.

«Naturally, these illegal actions deserve the attention of international organizations: UN, Council of Europe, OSCE», — said Brod.
