The Parliament of Abkhazia will consider Thursday the ratification of the Treaty of friendship and cooperation with Syria, said to RIA Novosti, the speaker of the National Assembly Valery kvarchia.

«The national Assembly will consider on 6 December, the draft law on ratification of the agreement on friendship and cooperation between Republic of Abkhazia and the Syrian Arab Republic,» said kvarchia on the phone.

According to him, on the same day, the deputies will consider the draft law «On ratification of the cooperation agreement between the government of the Republic of Abkhazia and the government of the Syrian Arab Republic.»

«The fact of establishing relations with this ancient country is very important to us. Syria to recognize Abkhazia, therefore we attach great importance to dialogue with the SAR. We have common pain points. We have mutual sympathy. Has good relations», — said the speaker.

«The contract for ratification. It will be ratified — all members give this document great importance», — he said.

The President of Syria and the head of Abkhazia signed a Treaty on cooperation and friendship of the two countries on 4 September. The countries signed two agreements on establishing joint Committee for cooperation in Economics, trade, science, art and culture, and in the facilitation and development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The Syrian Parliament has ratified the Treaty on friendship and cooperation on October 11.

Moscow August 26, 2008 recognized the sovereignty of Abkhazia and South Ossetia after Georgia on the night of August 8, fired from rocket launchers «Grad» of South Ossetia. Russia, protecting inhabitants of South Ossetia, many of whom took Russian citizenship, sent troops into the Republic and after five days of fighting ousted Georgian troops from the region. Subsequently, Abkhazia and South Ossetia was recognized by Nicaragua, Venezuela, Nauru, Vanuatu, Tuvalu, and may 29, 2018 on the recognition of independence of Abkhazia and South Ossetia announced Syria.
