The state Duma may pass this week the law on the annual increase in the minimum wage, which implies an increase in the minimum wage in Russia on average by 117 rubles, told journalists the Chairman of the faction «United Russia» Andrei Isayev.

«The second and hopefully third reading of the law to increase the minimum wage,» said Isayev, informing about the work plans of the state Duma for the upcoming week.

Earlier, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation proposed to increase the size of the minimum wage, providing that from 1 January 2019 and annually thereafter, the minimum wage will be set equal to 100% of the minimum subsistence level in Russia as a whole for the second quarter of the previous year. The bill proposes to set the minimum wage from January 1, 2019 in the amount of 11 280 rubles a month, which is 100% of the subsistence minimum of able-bodied population in Russia as a whole for the second quarter of 2018.

«Raising the minimum wage in 2019 will amount to 117 rubles (an increase of 1,048%) in relation to the established may 1, 2018 (11 of 163 thousand rubles a month)», — stated in the feasibility study of the bill.

The state Duma adopted the bill in the first reading on 23 October.
