Observers from CIS and OSCE Office for democratic institutions and human rights (ODIHR) of OSCE on parliamentary elections in Armenia have agreed to maintain working contacts, reported in the observation mission of the Commonwealth.

The President of Armenia Armen Sargsyan signed on 1 November, the decree on dissolving the Parliament and calling new legislative elections on 9 December. Earlier in the day, the Parliament of Armenia for the second time failed to elect the Prime Minister that, under the law, shall entail its dissolution. The CIS mission started monitoring the preparation and holding of extraordinary parliamentary elections in Armenia in late November. It is planned that it will include about 70 people, and about 20 will work on a long term basis.

«The chief of staff of the CIS mission Yevgeny Sloboda has met with the head of the OSCE / ODIHR mission Ursulas the Hachek. During the meeting the parties discussed the ongoing election campaign. Was agreed to maintain working contacts, as well as the meeting of the heads of missions of CIS and OSCE / ODIHR on the voting day», — stated in the message of mission, placed at the disposal of RIA Novosti.

It is also noted that in the context of monitoring the preparation of the extraordinary elections to the Parliament of Armenia long-term CIS observers visited district and precinct election commissions Kotayk, Armavir and Aragatsotn regions and Yerevan.

«When visiting the commissions, observers were given the opportunity to read their work and to provide information about the election campaign. Mission representatives attended a training for members of precinct electoral commissions with the participation of experts of the CEC, experts in the field of electoral legislation, which incrementally explained the voting procedures and the procedure for the generalization of its results», — stated in the message.

At the meeting in the Armenian national Commission on television and radio long-term observers from the CIS were informed about the procedure for monitoring the coverage of the election campaign by TV-radio 39. The Prosecutor’s office they were informed about the work carried out by the office during the election campaign. The electoral process the mission of the CIS have discussed with the leadership of the election headquarters of the party «prosperous Armenia».

In the Parliament of the last convocation 50 seats belonged to the former ruling Republican party of Armenia, 31 — unit «Tsarukyan». Nine mandates were owned block «EFC» (Exodus), another family — party «Dashnaktsutiun».
