The statement of the President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko about Russian plans to seize Berdyansk and Mariupol — and the absurd attempt to provoke tensions, said the press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov.

Previously Poroshenko in an interview with the German Funke Media Group said that Russia has not abandoned his plan to seize the Ukrainian city of Berdyansk and Mariupol (the Azov sea coast) to get a ground corridor from Donbass to Crimea. However, he gave no real acknowledgment of his words, and the only evidence of such «plans,» called the incident on 25 November in the Kerch Strait, when Russia detained Ukrainian sailors have illegally crossed the border with Russia.

«This is an absolutely absurd statement. In fact, another attempt in some way to provoke tensions. It is clear that, most likely, such attempts, unfortunately, will continue on as it approaches elections in Ukraine. Russia never seized and no corridors will not paves. This is a completely unfounded statement and accusation of Russia», — said Peskov on a question to comment on the words Poroshenko.
