The President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko expressed hope that the military situation in several regions of the country will not last more than 30 days.

«Martial law is a preventive measure for a period of 30 days. The time will be used to strengthen our defenses and our ability to protect citizens from enemy attack. I hope that we will be limited to these measures and its renewal is not necessary», — wrote Poroshenko on Twitter.

The incident in the Black sea, where Ukrainian Navy ships violated the border of Russia and was detained by Russian ships has aggravated the already difficult relations between Kiev and Moscow. Against the backdrop of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on 26 November approved a decree Poroshenko on the introduction of martial law in some areas of the country for 30 days. Poroshenko said that he had proposed the Parliament to introduce martial law for 30 days, not 60, so as not to disrupt the elections to be held on March 31.
