Russia in 2018 gathered a good grain harvest of 110 million tons in net weight, said the Minister of agriculture of the Russian Federation Dmitry Patrushev at the meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

«We have to date, grains and legumes threshed on 100% of the area. The important thing is that, despite the somewhat adverse weather conditions, we managed to collect a good harvest of 110 million tons in net weight is 11% more than the annual average over the last five years», — said Patrushev, whose words are reported on the Kremlin website.

According to the head of the Ministry of agriculture, this year also it is planned to collect 18 million tons of oilseeds, which is 1.5 million tonnes more than the previous year. Almost complete collection of beets, the harvest has exceeded 41 million tons. In addition, 6.7 million tonnes of potatoes, 4.2 million tons of vegetables, almost 1 million tons of greenhouse vegetables and more than 1 million tons of fruits and berries.

«Mr President, briefly, I can report on the sowing of winter crops. Currently, sowing an area of more than 17.5 million hectares, last year the figure was half a million hectares below. Expect that the condition of winter crops will be fairly good, we hope for enough snow and favorable weather,» the Minister added.

The forecast of the Ministry of agriculture grain harvest amounted to 70 million tons. In 2017, Russia received a record harvest in its history — 135,4 million tons in net weight, including the 85.9 million tons of wheat. The grain harvest in 2016 made up of 120.7 million tons.
