Moscow demands a thorough investigation into airstrikes in the Afghan provinces of Helmand and Paktia and to bring the perpetrators to justice, said Monday the Russian foreign Ministry.

«Drew attention to the information about the growing number of civilian casualties in Afghanistan as a result of the actions of foreign troops. A recent example – an airstrike by international forces in the Garmsir district of Helmand province, which killed 23 civilians and 3 were injured. According to preliminary data, among victims of 8 women and 10 children. During another operation of the international forces in the County Zurmat Paktia province, killing 8 and wounding 4 civilians,» — said in comments MFA.

It is noted that in the second half of November recorded at least five such incidents.

«What is happening is of deep concern. I have to say that «miscalculations» on the part of government forces and foreign troops, leading to human tragedies occurring with increasing frequency. Such criminal incompetence gives rise to grave questions as to the activities of NATO troops in Afghanistan. As far as can be judged, the observed increase in casualties directly associated with the previously announced decision of the United States to intensify its military activity in Afghanistan. This is confirmed by the statistics of the American military command, according to which for the first ten months of this year in Afghanistan dropped a record number of bombs,» — said in Russian depodesta.

«We have repeatedly stated that reliance on military force in solving the Afghan issue carries significant risks, primarily related to the increase in the number of victims among the civilian population. Unfortunately, these fears come true. Required to conduct a thorough investigation of the said incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice», — concluded the Russian foreign Ministry.
