The Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Kirill together with the clergy of the Tver Archdiocese on Tuesday celebrated the divine Liturgy in the Dormition Cathedral of the Moscow Kremlin and donated Tver, the relics of St. Prince Michael.

Tver oblast on 4 and 5 December marks the 700th anniversary of the feat of the Holy Prince Mikhail Yaroslavich of Tver — a major public figure of North-Eastern Russia XIV century. Historians compare his contribution to the formation of the Russian statehood with the activities of Alexander Nevsky and Dmitry Donskoy.

«In memory of our today’s prayer meeting, I would like to present to you the relics of Holy Nobleborn Prince Michael of Tver. They were in the temple of the apostles Peter and Paul in Lefortovo, its Abbot now holds the ark, and on my behalf, and on behalf of his ward, and his own name gives this site of the Tver Archdiocese. His prayers bless the Lord Tver land», — said the Primate of the Russian Church, referring to the Metropolitan of Tver and Kashin Sawa.

Troops of Mikhail of Tver in Russia for the first time defeated by the Mongol-Tatars in the battle of Bortnevskiy 1317. Because of this victory in December 1318 Mikhail of Tver was martyred in the Golden Horde. The Prince was canonized by the Church in 1549 in the face of the pious.
