The Governor of the Magadan region Sergey Nosov asked the Minister of science and higher education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov to help solve the funding problems of regional universities and academic institutions, said on Tuesday the government of the Kolyma river.

«The Minister of science and higher education of the Russian Federation Mikhail Kotyukov held a working meeting with Magadan region Governor Sergei Nosov. The theme of the meeting was the state of higher education in the region. Universities are unable to reach a President level wages for teachers, and academic institutions are on the verge of survival», — stated in the message.

It notes that Kotyukov has promised to bring the situation under control, instructed to deal with the salaries and support for the pay increase, primarily low-paid categories of teachers. Following the meeting, the Governor of the Magadan region and the head of Department has defined a roadmap that will enable to establish cooperation between higher education and academic science.

«If we follow the path laid out a road map that will enable us to enhance the prestige of regional education, to maintain and develop the academic science» — quoted Nosov, the government of the Kolyma river.
