The arbitration panel of the world trade organization (WTO) will consider nine requests of States in disputes against the United States at Washington imposed duties on steel and aluminium, said on Tuesday the trade representative in Geneva.

«Now Switzerland and India joined seven other countries and has successfully established a panel of arbitrators. This was the second request of each party, and the United States could not block it», he said.

He recalled that the dispute settlement body of the WTO has already set up seven panels to review the duties of the United States. The group was created on 21 November, on the initiative of Russia, EU, Canada, China, Mexico, Norway and Turkey.

In turn, the United States has made counterclaims against the introduction of States in response to U.S. duties on steel and aluminum. There were four panels — against Canada, China, Mexico and the European Union.

On Tuesday, the fifth creation of such a panel against retaliation Moscow has blocked Russia. However, the United States can re-request the creation of the arbitration court on December 18 and according to WTO rules a panel is automatically created.
