US within 60 days will not produce, test and deploy missiles subject to the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and short range, said US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo.

Pompeo previously said that the United States will suspend its obligations under the INF Treaty, if Russia after 60 days will not return to the performance of the contract.

«During these 60 days, we are not going to produce, test and deploy any systems (weapons prohibited by the INF Treaty – ed.). After these 60 days, we’ll see what happens,» said Pompeo at a press conference.

Pompeo also noted that such 60-day period was supported by their NATO allies, with whom in Brussels discussed the issue of the INF Treaty.

«About this there is a complete unity (among members of the NATO – ed.),» he said.

He added that the United States has previously called for Russia to return to compliance with the INF Treaty, but «there are no signs that they are doing this.»
