Yamal five years plans to increase by one third the pace of construction of new housing – up to 310 thousand square meters, said Tuesday the Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YANAO) Dmitry Artyukhov in its annual report on the situation in the region and prospects of its development.

«We need to admit that recently the pace of construction of new housing began to decline. This is partly due to changes in legislation that does not relieve us of the task to not only catch up but also to increase the number of new housing. After five years, the volumes should grow by a third. We plan to reach the level of 310 thousand square meters of housing. It is more than 5.5 thousand new apartments every year,» — said Artyukhov.

According to him, the region has enough housing programs, including for young families and veterans of the North. «But these measures are still not enough. You additionally have to make a decision and seriously increase targeted support to the most needy in improvement of housing of Yamal», — said the Governor.

According to him, one of the most pressing issues in the region right now is housing for young families. «People are concerned that while they are in the queue, they reach the age of 35 years and, therefore, ineligible for the subsidy. Our task – to give the chance to young families who want to live on the Yamal Peninsula, to obtain their own housing. We took in this area two fundamental decisions», — said the head of the region.

He explained that, firstly, will increase the total number of social payments. Next year they will get twice as more people in the region than in 2018. Funding for this program will be increased three times. There was enough money, to three years of new apartments could get about 2 thousand young families. Those who stood in line for a subsidy, not by the regional and the Federal program will have the opportunity to go to regional place and time to get paid.

It will also raise the subsidy for young families to purchase new housing in the primary market – the amount will increase to 40% from cost of an apartment, said Artyukhov.
