The French company Chanel decided not to use real fur or skin of exotic animals in their products, reports WWD, with reference to the President of fashion direction fashion house Bruno Pawlowski.

According to the portal, the company will stop using the skin of crocodile, lizard, snake and Stingray. As for furs, the company early and almost never used it, according to the portal.

Pawlowski said that it has become very difficult to find a skin that meets the quality standards and ethics of the company, and that the fashion house will focus on using textiles and synthetic leather. He noted that the leather of exotic animals did not immediately cease to be sold in the boutiques of the brand, «it will take some time.»

The head of Chanel Karl Lagerfeld said he did not remember when the company used fur in their collections. About the leather of exotic animals, he said that «there is a problem with the supply, and in any case it wasn’t Chanel.»

«We did it because it’s in the air, and not because we imposed it. It is a free choice», — quotes the portal words of the head of the house.
