Russia is strongly opposed to the scrapping of the Treaty on the elimination of intermediate and shorter-range missiles (INF Treaty) and is ready for dialogue with the US on mutually respectful terms, said the official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.

«Reaffirm our consistent position: the contract is one of the key pillars of strategic stability and international security. We strongly oppose its demolition,» — said Zakharov in the briefing.

«We are ready to continue the dialogue in an appropriate format on a whole range of issues related to the operation of this document, of course, mutually respectful and professional manner without putting forward unfounded accusations and ultimatums,» she said.

Earlier, the US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that Russia has two months to return to the implementation of the INF Treaty. He added that if this does not happen, Washington will suspend obligations under the INF Treaty. The official representative of Russian foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova in response to the word Pompeo said that Moscow is strictly implementing the agreement, and Washington knows this.
