Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo asked the French interior Ministry to provide security planned for Saturday in new protests of «yellow jackets» thus, «to respect the right to participate in demonstrations and to prevent hooligan encounters».

Mass protests of the movement «yellow jackets» which are, in particular, against the increase in gasoline prices that began in France on November 17. The protest on 1 December in Paris was accompanied by significant clashes of protesters with the police, pogroms and arsons of cars. During the riots that gripped the French capital, was arrested 412 people, injured 133 people, including 23 security men, killed four. On Saturday, December 8, is scheduled the third wave of demonstrations.

«The damage is significant and noticeable both in Paris and in many other cities of France. I condemn such violent actions. They should not be repeated a third time… At the same time I also don’t want a ban on protests. Paris belongs to all the French, and it is their right to go to a demonstration in our town to appeal to the government,» said Hidalgo in an interview with the Dauphine.

The mayor of Paris demanded that the interior Minister of France to «establish the safety» of the protests, and the movement of the «yellow jackets» — «to facilitate the work of police against hooligans.»

Earlier, Prime Minister of France Edouard Philippe announced the introduction of a six-month moratorium on increase of taxes on fuel. Among the measures, which imposed the moratorium were, in particular, the increase in fuel prices, a comparison of taxes on gasoline and diesel fuel. It is the change in the fuel tax from 1 January 2019 and has provoked a wave of large-scale protests of the «yellow jackets» to cover the entire country.
