Qatar is considering the attracting foreign partners into the project to expand capacity for the production of liquefied natural gas (LNG) in the country, told journalists the Minister of energy of Qatar, Saad al-Kaabi.

«You can not attract partners,» said al-Kaabi.

«We are studying whether there is an additional effect of attracting partners, there is a big interest (to the project — ed.). As soon as we decide whether the partners to provide additional economic effect, we will announce it,» he said.

Earlier on Monday, the Minister announced that Qatar since January 1 comes out of the OPEC in connection with the desire to focus on gas production and increased LNG production.

Earlier Qatar was announced that by 2024, plans to increase LNG production from 77 million to 110 million tons per year, by entering into operation of four new production lines at the expense of financial resources of Qatar Petroleum.
